S’interroger collectivement sur la place qu’occupe aujourd’hui le cinéma des premiers temps dans notre imaginaire et esquisser un bilan historiographique de la discipline, c’est ce qu’ambitionne cette journée d’étude, organisée à la fondation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé, à l’occasion de l’exposition « Enfin le cinéma ! » au Musée d'Orsay. Les sources premières récemment mises à disposition des chercheurs, des enseignants et des programmateurs, les champs émergeants de la recherche comme les études de genre les études postcoloniales et les approches éco-critiques, ainsi que les outils théoriques les plus actuels comme la question des représentations, feront l’objet de communications inédites. L’occasion est offerte au public de connaître les nouveaux acteurs et les institutions, aujourd’hui à l’initiative de la production de ces nouveaux savoirs. Cette journée d’étude, à l’image de l’exposition qu’il accompagne, cherche à comprendre ce que le cinéma des premiers temps dit de la société d’aujourd’hui.

HOMMAGE A PHILIPPE LAMBERT, MON AMI SMOOTH ONE

C'est avec une très grande tristesse que j'ai appris le décès de mon ami compositeur Philippe Lambert, connu sous le nom d'artiste de Smooth One.

Philippe se battait depuis plusieurs mois contre un méchant cancer. Il est parti hier à 15:30, à Paris. Toutes mes pensées vont à sa famille.

Pour accompagner la lecture de cet hommage, vous pouvez écoutez, ci-dessous, la musique originale, composée par Philippe, à l'occasion de mon exposition "L'atelier Schlomoff, 100 portraits et plus si affinités" à Monaco, 2012. Cette musique faisait partie de mon installation de "chambre sténopé" au sein de cette exposition.

Philippe était aussi le compagnon de toutes mes aventures filmiques pour "CHANEL". C'est à lui que je demandais de m'aider pour réaliser ces projets fous de films pour les expositions CHANEL. Je n'avais pas besoin d'un assistant, j'avais besoin d'un complice de cette folie indissociable de chaque projet. L'humour et la bonne humeur étaient notre moteur, notre stimulant. Je garde, aujourd'hui, tellement de bons souvenirs de cette amitié, qu'il me semble toujours là, avec son petit regard pince sans rire, qu'il affiche sur son portrait...

It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of my friend composer Philippe Lambert, known by the artist name of Smooth One.

Philippe had been fighting for several months against a nasty cancer. He left yesterday at 3:30 pm, in Paris. All my thoughts are with his family.

To accompany the reading of this tribute, you can listen, below, to the 
original music, composed by Philippe, on the occasion of my exhibition 
"L'atelier Schlomoff, 100 portraits et plus si affinités" in Monaco, 2012. 
This music was part of my "pinhole camera" installation in this exhibition.

But, Philippe was also the companion of all my film adventures for "CHANEL". 
It is to him that I asked to help me to make these crazy projects of films for the 
CHANEL exhibitions, I did not need an assistant, I needed an accomplice of this 
madness inseparable from each project. 
Humor and good humor were our driving force, our stimulus. 
Today, I have so many good memories of this friendship, that it still seems to me 
there, with his little tongue-in-cheek glance that we can see in his portrait ...

CHANEL IS BEIGE - EXHIBITION

You are cordially invited to the exhibition: "CHANEL IS BEIGE"

This exhibition presents a series of photographs of haute couture clothing, High jewelry jewels and exclusive perfumes.

These photographs were taken in Coco Chanel's apartment, 31 rue Cambon in Paris, in 2007, for the edition of the book of the exhibition "CHANEL L'ART COMME UNIVERS" at the request of Jean-Louis Froment, curator of this exhibition, which was held at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow,

Beige being one of the symbolic colors for CHANEL, I chose to edit these black and white images with a beige tint.

NOTE: Because of COVID-19, there is no opening, you can come when you want, during the week making sure that I am present by calling me on 06 38 46 73 94. And weekends on appointment, at the same number.

SCREENING "NEW YORK ZERO ZERO" EYE Film Instituut Nederland

Subbacultcha and Eye join forces for Soundstracks for the, a special evening as part of the Eye On Sound program Pop !, in which three indie pop artists provide a new adventure score for three short films from the Eye collection. They push the boundaries of what is possible with new forms of film music.

Subbacultcha en Eye slaan de handen ineen voor Soundstracks for the, een bijzondere avond in het kader van het Eye On Sound-programma Pop!, waarbij drie indie-popartiesten een nieuwe avontuurlijke score verzorgen bij drie korte films uit de Eye-collectie. Ze rekken de grenzen op van wat er mogelijk is met nieuwe vormen van filmmuziek.

Lazergazer and new york zéro zéro Jérôme Schlomoff, 2006, 21 '

new york zéro zéro was recorded during a snow storm in New York and depicts the city as a devastated world. Jérôme Schlomoff filmed with his home-built 35mm pinhole camera and portrays New York as a broken and abandoned place. At the same time it could be any city.
The film is built

around a series of intersections of abandoned spaces and a conversation with Jerzy W. Sulek, a homeless architect who has to sleep in his parked van while awaiting a possible building permit.

Lazergazer writes dyslexic lines of code and cuts magnetic tapes while neighbors call the police.

 

Lazergazer en new york zéro zéro Jérôme Schlomoff, 2006, 21'

new york zéro zéro werd opgenomen tijdens een sneeuwstorm in New York en toont de stad als een verwoeste wereld. De maker filmde met zijn zelfgebouwde 35mm pinhole-camera en portretteert New York als een gebroken en verlaten oord. Tegelijkertijd zou het elke stad kunnen zijn.

De film is opgebouwd rondom een reeks kruisingen van verlaten ruimten en een gesprek met Jerzy W. Sulek, een dakloze architect die in zijn geparkeerde bestelwagen moet slapen terwijl hij wacht op een mogelijke bouwvergunning.

Lazergazer schrijft dyslectische coderegels en knipt magneettapes door terwijl de buren de politie bellen.

Gijsje, Lyckle & Kim en Un chien Andalou (Luis Buñuel, 1928, 20')

Bijna tachtig jaar na de première geldt Un chien Andalou nog steeds als een van de hoogtepunten van het surrealisme. Scenaristen Salvador Dalí en Luis Buñuel schreven het verhaal uitsluitend op basis van droombeelden en associaties. Tot de horrortoptien behoort de scène waarin een scheermes een koeienoog klieft. Het schokeffect dat Buñuel en Dalí nastreefden was ten volle bereikt.

Lyckle, Kim en Gijsje, of Kim, Gijsje en Lyckle, of Gijsje, Lyckle en Kim, maken samen muzikale performances. De performances zijn deels improvisatie, deels niet. Ze zijn verhalend van aard en naast het publiek verrassen ze ook geregeld zichzelf.  

Go Me en Cloacinae Serge Onnen & Sverge Fredriksen, 2017, 25'

Elke moderne samenleving is gebouwd op twee door mensenhanden gemaakte onzichtbare systemen: het monetaire en het rioleringssysteem. Gaat er iets mis met een van beiden dan loopt de beschaving gevaar.

Cloacinae is de Romeinse godin van het eerste riool van de moderne beschaving, de Cloaca Maxima, in Rome. In deze animatie over financiën en hygiëne – vormgegeven met Chinese schaduwpoppen en een groot aantal pre-cinematografische technieken – volgen we de reis van een cent die in de riolering is gevallen.

Go Me is een muzikant en DJ uit Amsterdam. Het gerucht gaat dat hij de clubscene stormenderhand verovert als mede-oprichter van het in Amsterdam gevestigde label Seedlink +. In zijn werk onderzoekt hij de relatie tussen geluid en beeldende kunst, terwijl zijn dj-sets zijn voorliefde tonen voor het mixen van conventioneel en onconventioneel, vaak met stotterende beats die de geest opschudden.
