Ce film sténopé propose une visite de la ville d’Amsterdam à travers les chantiers de reconstruction de quatre institutions culturelles qui sont : la salle de cinéma de la Maison Descartes ; le Rijksmuseum ; le Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam ; le centre d’art W139. Ces lieux sont actuellement en travaux. Le film se construit à travers ces 4 chantiers chargés d’histoire, où la magie de l’architecture mise à nu nous plonge dans un univers étrange et dont la caméra sténopé vient nous révéler la force poétique. Tout au long de cette balade, les éléments poétiques successivement rencontrés sont confrontés à la vision d’un monde industriel, en analogie ou en opposition, avec celle de la nature intacte. Cette vision d’Amsterdam permet de créer un lien dynamique entre les quatre chantiers. Il s’agit d’une histoire de reconstruction, reconstruction de la ville à travers notre propre reconstruction du regard.


This pinhole film offers a trip round the city of Amsterdam, through the building sites of four cultural institutions in the process of being re-vamped: the Maison Descartes cinema; the Rijksmuseum; the Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum; the W139 art centre. The work is currently being carried out in these places. The film is constructed around four building sites full of history, where the magic of architecture laid bare plunges us into a strange world and where the pinhole camera shows us the poetical power.For the length of this journey, the successive poetic elements encountered, are confronted by the spectre of the industrial world, in analogy or in opposition, with that of nature which is intact. This vision of Amsterdam allows for the creation of a dynamic link between the four building sites. Its a story of reconstruction, reconstruction of the town around the reconstruction of our own take on things.


Dieser stenopierte Film versteht sich als Besichtigung der Stadt Amsterdam von der Seite ihrer Baustellen, von vier Kulturinstitutionen, die derzeit renoviert werden: der Kinosaal des Descartes Hauses, das Rijksmuseum, das Stedelijk Musaum Amsterdam und das Kunstzentrum W139. Der Film wird durch diese vier historisch bedeutenden Baustellen konstruiert, wo uns die Magie der bloßgelegten Architektur in eine sonderbare Welt eintauchen lässt und wo uns die stenopierte Kamera die Kraft der Poesie enthüllt. Während dieses Spaziergangs werden die poetischen Elemente, die nacheinander aufgegriffen werden, dem Blick auf die Industriewelt – analog zur intakten Natur oder aber sich dieser widersetzend – gegenübergestellt. Diese besondere Sicht auf Amsterdam ermöglicht, eine dynamische Verbindung zwischen diesen vier Baustellen herzustellen. Es handelt sich um die Geschichte einer Rekonstruktion, der Rekonstruktion einer Stadt durch die gleichzeitige persönliche Rekonstruktion des Blicks.


Este vídeo propone una visita a la ciudad de Amsterdam a través de las obras en construcción de cuatro instituciones culturales: la sala del cine de la Casa Descartes; el Rijskmuseum; el Stedelijk Museum; el centro de Arte w139, todas actualmente en fase de remodelación. Esta película se construye a través de estas cuatro obras cargadas de historia, donde la magia de la arquitectura desnuda nos sumerge en un extraño universo y donde la cámara de estenotipo nos revela su fuerza poética. A lo largo de esta balada, los elementos poéticos sucesivamente reencontrados son confrontados a la visión de un mundo industrial, en analogía o en oposición con aquel de la naturaleza intacta. Esta visión de Amsterdam permite crear un vínculo dinámico entre las cuatro obras. Se trata de una historia de reconstrucción de la ciudad a través de nuestra propia reconstrucción de la mirada.

L'exposition vient d'ouvrir, si vous êtes dans le coin n'hésitez pas à venir la découvrir, c'est un beau voyage...

 

C'est aussi l'occasion de voir le film projeté dans l'une des caves du Casino. L'écran de projection est fixé sur un mur décrépit de la cave, ce qui permet la mise en abîme des lieux filmés, en l'état de démolition, avec le lieu de la projection. La musique hante avec mystère l'espace, la même mise en abîme surgie de la bande son, dont les fracas modulent de la même manière qu'au moment de leur enregistrement. Ouvrez vos yeux & regardez avec vos oreilles...

Confronté quotidiennement à l’offensive de la science et des technologies digitales dans tous les domaines de la vie, l’homme contemporain est obligé de vivre simultanément dans le monde réel et virtuel, d’être à la fois ici et ailleurs : cela lui procure un nouveau sens de lui-même, lui ouvre de nouveaux moyens de penser et de percevoir la présence humaine. S’adapter et comprendre ce nouveau monde et cette nouvelle réalité demande beaucoup d’efforts. Dans ce contexte, l’exposition Locked-in. The Image of Humanity in the Age of Intrusion propose une analyse de quelques discours artistiques faisant référence à ce tournant auquel l’humanité fait face aujourd’hui

De vierde editie van het grootste Amsterdamse literatuurfestival, met meer dan honderd schrijvers in vijf theaters: de Stadsschouwburg, Paradiso, de Melkweg, Theater Bellevue en De Balie. Maar ook met korte films, theater, feest en muziek. Weerwoord beschikt dit jaar ook over een eigen radiostation, dat dagelijks uitzendt vanuit de Salon van De Balie. U bent van harte welkom de uitzendingen bij te wonen. Toegang is gratis, inloop vrij.

Berichten aan de nieuwe Stadsdichter:
Een serie gesprekken over de hoofdstad, met als uitgangspunt: het onzichtbare.

Op woensdag 30 januari geeft Adriaan Jaeggi in Paradiso de fakkel over aan de nieuwe stadsdichter van Amsterdam. Hoewel de stadsdichter een initiatief is van Stadsdeel Centrum is Weerwoord van mening dat de nieuwe dichter er dient te zijn voor de gehele stad en presenteert daarom met deze serie Amsterdam zoals u de stad nog nooit gezien heeft. We verlangen van onze dichter nieuwe invalshoeken op een stad die we al zo goed kennen, we willen dat hij zich begeeft waar wij nooit gaan, om iets zichtbaar te maken dat wij tot dan toe niet hebben kunnen zien.

In een serie van vier live gesprekken nodigen we stadsprominenten uit hetzelfde te doen. In het vijfde gesprek, op donderdag 31 januari, is het woord aan de stadsdichter zelf. Wat zijn volgens hen de blinde vlekken van Amsterdam? Welke fysieke plek, mentaliteit, cultuur, historische gebeurtenis, overlevering, welk beleid onttrekt zich onterecht aan ons zicht? En: waarop staart de Amsterdammer zich blind? Welk terrein zou de stadsdichter voor ons kunnen, moeten ontginnen?

Op vrijdag en zaterdag presenteert Cinema De Balie een verrassende visie op Amsterdam, in een speciaal samengestelde serie korte films. Onder de makers van de films bevinden zich zowel rasechte Amsterdammers als buitenlandse kunstenaars, hun interpretaties van de hoofdstad zijn al even divers. Een van de hoogtepunten in het programma is amsterdam reconstruction, van Jerome Schlomoff. Deze Franse Amsterdammer richtte zijn zelfgemaakte pinholecamera op interieuren van Amsterdamse musea die op dit moment verbouwd worden. Een inspirerende trip achter gesloten deuren, vreemde verhalen uit het dagelijks stadsleven en vooral veel Amsterdam.

A walk through the cultural ruins of the city of Amsterdam. Using a 35mm film tray with a pinhole, Schlomoff captures the empty halls of the Stedelijk Museum, the Rijksmuseum, Gallery W139, and the cinema of Maison Descartes. It is surprising to see how quickly you recognise the function of these rooms, even without the art works. The lay-out, the white walls and the filtered light streaming in from above immediately carry you into the sacred world of the visual arts. To highlight the power emanating from all these buildings for the arts, Schlomoff draws a parallel with the dynamics of the Amsterdam harbour, where ships and cranes dance to the rhythm of the filmmaker's voice as he counts down the seconds he needs to expose each frame.
