The physical world is not unpredictable and chaotic. It’s the world of sentiments and emotions. So if an artist explores a way to bring order to the chaotic systems of sentiments and uses large geometric objects to express it, you wonder what will happen if she transfers that exploration into a limited space.

The German raised Heike Wahner’s uses large monumental structures to portray complex systems in an orderly way. The invitation by Jerome to explore the ‘small' unlocked new potential in her work. She is excited to walk into this unknown territory for the first time in Jérôme’s atelier.

I will present some detail photographs of Heike Wahner's art works taken in her atelier.

    LETTERS, MOVEMENT” Lara Captan.

In my world, Arabic letters are made of motions within.

They embody traces of a long line of master calligraphers’ gestures, thoughts & artistic refinement.

They are inhabited by shifting technologies that reflect the environments in which these changes keep taking place.

In this exhibition, you will visit fragments of my life, dedicated to playing with elemental systems, to making typefaces that tell stories of, movements.

    “LETTERS, MOVEMENT” Jérôme Schlomoff.

I saw in the gestures of Lara's writing a whole moving world, so I wanted to make a film of the construction of her Arabic typeface. The result is like a typographic choreography.

     “Mental landscapes”, Lisanne Sloots.

These landscapes were inspired by the material – charcoal on paper – and by my wish to draw more freely as I explored themes like skin, home, and heart. Here and there, the charcoal is combined with water and used as pigment; at other times, it serves as a tone, or drawing material.

All at once, surprisingly new things started happening on the paper, and I reacted to those, too. Drawings from life, flowing from my hand onto the paper. Moments, moods, thoughts took shape. Organic, powerful, vulnerable!

These drawings, together with my research into the different types of charcoal produced by different trees, and my artistic use of it, are presented here. My fascination for black and white, material, and trees, come together in this project.

    “Mental Landscapes”, Jérôme Schlomoff.

I particularly like the “acheiropoietos” images. These images not created by humans. Here, mold on a wall. There, a stain of moisture on curtain, and each time a mental universe opens to our eyes creating landscapes, like so many forests, seaside, snowy mountains... It is a question of observation and interpretation of the world around us, and I like to capture these ghostly landscapes…

    “Mentale Landschappen”, Lisanne Sloots.

Jérôme Schlomoff has invited Herwolt van Doornen for a special joint exhibition under the title

    "The Angels Series”

Herwolt is active as a graphic artist and designer in Amsterdam since 1977. Through the years he has done many studies in black and white. In this case it's about his so called "Angels" he put out since 2008. Starting with sensitive lines in ink, moving to sharp cuttings in black and white paper, a special series of graphics has grown, from which a selection will be on display at Atelier Schlomoff coming mid December weekend.

Jérôme himself has, since 1993, challenged the tradition of portrait photography by aiming at portraying "Angels". The choice of the models, the quality of the light and the composition of the image together play significant roles for the intensity of the photographs produced.

Herwolt, who graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy as a graphic designer has since contributed to, among others:

The New Yorker Magazine, the VPRO TV guide, Het Parool Newspaper, Vrij Nederland Magazine, Furore Magazine and De Poezenkrant.
